FRIENDSHIP
FORCE OF LAKE HARTWELL
The Friendship Force of
Lake Hartwell (FFOLH) has 80 members
from both South Carolina and Georgia. The
club was organized in 1994 and has
hosted groups from Mexico,
Germany, Russia, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, England and the United
States. After our trip to Russia in
September 2007
we will have also visited all of those countries. Domestic
exchanges have included North Carolina, Florida, Texas,
California, Washington, Louisiana and Iowa.
For 2007 we had an
incoming exchange from Manitoba, Canada
in March, an outgoing exchange to the Quad Cities in Iowa and Illinois,
and
will be going to St Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, and Moscow Russia in
September. In 2008 we have an incoming
from Santa Barbara in June and an outgoing to Cornwall, England in
September.
Members are not required
to travel or to host in their
homes. Some people join to participate
in incoming exchange activities such as special meals, day hosting,
“Guess
Who’s Coming to Dinner” and boat floats.
In addition to our
Incoming and Outgoing Exchanges, members
enjoy social functions including holiday parties, covered dish dinners,
golf
tournaments, picnics and other activities on the lake.
If you are
adventuresome, flexible and wish to form new
friendships with interesting people you are invited to attend one of
our regular
meetings. We meet on the first Monday
of each month in the Founders Hall of Sacred Heart Church on route 77
in
Hartwell. If you are interested in
attending please call Merilee Brister, our Membership Chairman at
Email: ml7777@yahoo.com or Bobbie
Jones, our Vice President at
